As a typical millenial, I am a fan of all things avocado, and brunch! So, with a couple of friends a few weeks ago, we decided to try out the Austin Sunday brunch scene at Banger's Sausage House and Beer Garden.
Banger's is located on Rainy Street, known for its quaint and quirky restaurants as well as its chill bars. It was pretty quiet at Rainy Street when we arrived before brunch began at 10:00am, but there was already a line out the door!
Brunch at Banger's has a specific title, The Big Band Brunch, including tasty food, manmosas, and a live jazz band.
As we walked through to the outside seating, we were delighted to hear the band playing jazz versions of some modern day music. The players seemed excited and passionate, and they put on a good show! It was a little hard to hear each other speak, but the music was so fun, I don't think anyone minded.
The long, connected picnic tables were interesting, although I felt a bit trapped, and found it difficult to get out from the table, because you were so close to everyone else, including people not in your party. However, I thought it made the experience unique and a bit more close up and exciting.
So, what is a MANmosa you ask? It's a huge, pitcher full of champagne and orange juice! It's supposed to be an iconically Austin thing - to drink a whole manmosa from Banger's! They're so huge and potent that if you want to order one, you are required to purchase a full meal along with it, or else they won't serve it to you.
Don't worry! Although I took pictures with a whole one of these bad boys, I split my manmosa with several other people. It just didn't seem like a good idea to down one at 10:00am when I had plans for the rest of the day!
For my food, I ordered a quiche lorraine, which seriously was one of the best quiche I have ever tasted. It was so light but also kind of creamy, unlike any quiche I've ever had before. It was made with bacon, cheddar, and green onion, and was served with a petite salade. The salad was not really worth mentioning. However, if you are interested in the menu, check it out here!
I think everyone was fairly happy with their meals, and it was a really great morning out. I'm hoping Sunday brunch in ATX becomes un petit tradition!
