Galentine's Day at Austin East Ciders

It's no secret that I love Austin, Texas. The food, the people, the vibes. In recent years, there seems to have been a boom in breweries and tap rooms around the city. This past weekend, for our Leslie Knope inspired Galentine's celebration, we decided to check out Austin East Ciders, and it did not disappoint!

We made the excursion into East Austin, with one slightly frightening moment in the car that resulted in screams and then broke into peals of laughter, thankfully. We soon stepped out into the crisp winter air once again, quickly making our way into the warm and cozy East Cider's tap room.

The place was packed full with a fairly young crowd. I think our favorite part was that each table was covered with an assortment of coloring or painting supplies for just anyone to use. It all felt very Austiny, and what could be better than crafts and cider together?

Austin EastCider's has five regular cider varieties, Original Dry, Hopped Cider, Pineapple Cider, Texas Honey Cider, and Blood Orange Cider. I had the Original Dry several times before, so after a bit of discussion with the bar tender, decided to go with the other four flavors, including the Hopped flavor. I'm usually not a fan of hopped drinks, but somehow this ended up being my favorite of the flight! It was sweet, but not too sweet.  The other varieties were great too. If I had to rank them, I would go with Hopped, then Pineapple, Blood Orange, and then Honey.

The four of us sat outside, snuggled up in our winter gear (a rarity in ATX), and sipped our ciders, catching up on each others lives, planning a road trip, playing Jenga, coloring, and painting! It was a wonderful afternoon turned into an evening out. We literally spent hours here. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a big cider fan! (It's also right by the Austin Bouldering Project, so perfect for a place to chill after climbing all day!)

Cheers to all my girls out there this coming Valentine/Galentine's day, I hope you get to spend it with someone, or someones that you love, even if it's just yourself!
